Cumbria Local History Federation
Information on the Local History societies of Cumbria.

Cumbria Family History Society
Founded in October 1976 to help Cumbrians, and people with Cumbrian ancestry, to carry out their family history researches.

Cumbria Archives Service
Cumbria County Council operates a network of County Records' Offices (Archives Offices). These are located at Carlisle, Barrow in Furness, Whitehaven, and Kendal.The Kendal CRO holds information about the area covered by Holme &: District LHS.

Cumbria Libraries
Cumbria County Council's Library Service maintains local collections and reference libraries throughout the county. The Local Studies Collection at Kendal Library holds information about the area covered by Holme &: District LHS.

Centre for North West Regional Studies at Lancaster University
The Centre for North-West Regional Studies was founded in 1973. It is widely respected, regionally, nationally and internationally for its programmes, courses, publications and archive. The Centre is involved in a programme of regular activities that are open to the public.

Cumbria Industrial History Society
Formed in 1985 by members of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society with a particular interest in industrial history. The Society is actively involved in the recording and conservation of important sites.

Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society
Founded in 1866 and exists to promote, encourage, foster and co-ordinate the study of archaeology, history, genealogy, customs and traditions of what is now the county of Cumbria.
